The Met Fifth Avenue

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Take the 1 train (red) at 50th Street to 86th Street, then you can walk or take the M86 crosstown bus across Central Park to Fifth Avenue.
Admission: $25 adults, free for children under 12
Type of Art: Everything from everywhere!

The Met Breuer

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Go to The Met Fifth Avenue and walk to Madison Avenue, turn right and continue until 75th Street.
Admission: $25 adults, free for children under 12
Type of Art: 20th and 21st centuries art.

The Met Cloisters

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Take the A train (blue) at 59th Street to 190th Street and exit the station by elevator. Walk north along Margaret Corbin Drive for approximately 10 minutes or transfer to the M4 bus and ride north one stop.
Admission: $25 adults, free for children under 12
Type of Art: Medieval art.

Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Take the 1 train (red) at 50th Street to 86th Street, then you can walk or take the M86 crosstown bus across Central Park to Fifth Avenue. Turn left and walk along Fifth Avenue to 88th Street.
Admission: $15 adults, free for children under 12
Type of Art: Modern art and architecture.

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Exit the hotel and walk along 7th Avenue to 54th Street and turn left. Walk for 5 minutes to the 54th Street entrance.

Whitney Museum of American Art

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Take the E train (blue) at 50th Street to 8th Avenue/14th Street. Exit station and right to 9th Avenue. Turn left on 9th Avenue then make a right onto Gansevoort Street.
Admission: $25 adults, free for children under 18
Type of Art: American art, of course.

The Frick Collection

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Exit the hotel and walk along 51st Street to Lexington Avenue. Take the 6 train (green) at 51st Street to 68th Street.
Admission: $22 adults. Children under 10 not admitted.
Type of Art: European art, 14th through 19th centuries.

American Folk Art Museum

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Take train 1 (red) at 50th Street to 66 St/Lincoln Center.
Admission: Free
Type of Art: American traditional art and crafts.  

Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum

Getting there from Manhattan at Times Square: Exit the hotel and walk along 51st Street to Lexington Avenue. Take the 6 train (green) at 51st Street to 96th St. and Lexington Avenue.
Admission: $18 adults, free for children under 18
Type of Art: Historic and contemporary design.
