March 10th, 2017 | Events in New York

If you are lucky enough to be in NYC for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, come and enjoy its 256th anniversary. It's one of the oldest and largest of it's kind, and has been celebrating Irish culture since 1762. Known for it's magnificent display of bagpipers, marching bands, and more--this year is expected to draw over two million spectators and 150,000 marchers.

New York City has a culture rich in Irish heritage, it's only befitting they would have one of the largest displays of devotion. St. Patrick's Day began in Ireland as a cultural and religious festival that occurred annually on March 17. It was held in honor of the death of Ireland's most worshipped patron Saint. It's now a widespread holiday and people from every ethnicity and every part of the world becomes a little Irish for the day. Grab a spot along the parade route which travels along Fifth Avenue from East 44th Street to 70th Street and passes by the recently renovated St. Patrick's Cathedral. It's a feast for the eyes!
